50th Artillery - Coast Artillery Corps - Regimental History Website

This amazing collection of photographs and post cards was saved by Sally Wilson, a niece of Private Amon Thomas Shelton of Winchester, Kentucky. Private Shelton entered service at Camp Zachary Taylor on the 24th of June 1918 and served in the Medical Detachment until his discharge. 

Amon Shelton was born in Richmond, Kentucky on the 30th of August 1895.  He lived in Kentucky his entire life and died on the 12th of May 1967.  He served in the Medical Detachment, 50th CAC during WWI and spent 5 months in France.  He was an attendant at the US Veterans Administration.  He married Viola Brown on 27 November 1919 and had one child Opadell Shelton.  Amon and Viola had one grandchild who wJoseph Richard Martin, and 2 great grandchildren.
